We’re delighted to bring you this incredible new single malt whisky from Cask 88 that is set to become one of the best whisky releases of 2019! This outstanding Arran 22 Year Old is the second instalment in the bottler’s Scottish Folklore Series and looks to follow in the footsteps of the triple gold medal winning Ben Nevis 45 Year Old that came before it.
The Selkie bottling was distilled at the Arran distillery, on the scenic island of the same name off the west coast of Scotland. Matured for 22 years, entirely in a first-fill sherry cask, the liquid exhibits an incredibly dark colour unlike anything we’ve ever seen before and the notes inside are equally as stunning.
Rich Oak, Coca Cola, classic sherried dried fruits, and sweet demerara sugar mingle with cinnamon and cardamom spices, creamy salted caramel and dried tobacco leaves. The Coca Cola and fruits then returns on the finish and last along with centre palate woodiness until your next sip.
The exquisite design features an elegantly portrayed selkie, mythical creatures that are both predator and prey, dark and malevolent, who shed their seal skin to come ashore and woo a human lover, before taking them back to the depths of the ocean. The depiction of the selkie on this bottle and display box is quite stunning and really stands apart from the crowd.
As a single cask whisky, of which only 183 bottles were produced, this stunning Arran 22 Year Old from Cask 88 is sure to sell out fast, particularly at the incredible price point of just $269.99 so act fast if you want to secure a bottle.
