About Talisker Distillery
The Talisker is an island distillery producing single malts, it is based is the small village of Carbost, and has the honor of being the only whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye. Founded in 1830 by two brothers named Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, it was then rebuilt in 1880 and extended in 1900 and rebuilt again in 1960 after being destroyed by fire. The stills were also destroyed but five exact replicas were build in order to preserve the taste. The distillery thus still has five stills, two wash and three spirit, it furthermore prides itself on using old methods, heating their stills with condensing coils the old fashioned way, as this gives the whisky a fuller flavor with a higher sugar content.
