This exciting Bowmore 23 Year Old makes up part of a two bottle collaborative series titled “No Corners To Hide”. It is an illustrated series that is inspired by the legends of the Bowmore Distillery and this particular bottling was illustrated by famous Glaswegian artist, Frank Quitely. It tells the legendary tale of the devil being chased from the chapel to the Bowmore winery on the famous whisky producing island of Islay.
To create this 23 Year Old, Master Distiller Ron Welsh, matured it for 21 Years in American bourbon barrels before finishing it for two further years in specially made Essencia barriques oak barrels. Welsh stated, “Much like the devil, both aged spirits took their own particularly unusual defining journey in Essencia® barriques, a peculiarly rare ‘Rose Oak’ dating back to the 1830s which creates character to transport you to that cold winter’s night.”
It’s a masterful creation and as a limited edition whisky, it’s well worth adding to your whisky cabinet while you can.
