The Distillery
For the fan of whisky history, Strathisla is a bit special, being the oldest continuously operating distillery in Scotland.
It was founded in 1786 on the banks of the river Isla by George Taylor and Alexander Milne and unlike almost all other distilleries, it has never been closed down, although it suffered a fire in 1879.
It survived two world wars, the Great Depression and Prohibition, pointing to the fact that they have been doing something right!
Famous whiskies are made at this Speyside distillery, including Chival Regal.
The distillery itself offers many interesting features for the whisky fan including a personalized label service, a tour through the distillery and many other things.
The distillery itself is also very photogenic, so if you are visiting Scotland you could do far worse than to stop by. The whisky that is produced here is as delightful as the views.
