Here we have a fantastic new single malt whisky from one of our favourite independent bottlers – Cask 88 and it’s an absolute beauty.
The bottler has created some outstanding whiskies in recent years, from the iconic Scottish Folklore Series to the recent Unfiltered series. They pay real attention to detail and value the quality of the whisky above all else, which is why we love them!
This brand new bottling is the first edition in their new Scottish Witchcraft Series and it winds the clock to the trial of Isobel Gowdie in 1662 by bringing new life to the vivid depictions and stories recounted by one of the most infamous women of the 17th century.
While the gorgeous bottle might seem somewhat ordinary in the daylight, it’s at night that it drifts into another reality with fabulous illustrations that lay hidden in the shadows. It’s a stunning design and one that will illuminate even the most impressive of whisky cabinets.
The liquid inside hails from the fantastic Linkwood Distillery. It was distilled in 2007 and matured for 14 years, including a finishing period in a Château Lafite cask, before bottling in 2021. Slightly thicker than most, the whisky has a creamy mouthfeel which combines fantastically with the soft delicate notes of light herbs, nuts and subtle sweetness.
With only 370 bottles produced it’s worth acting fast to get your hands on this incredible creation before they’re all gone.
